Preparing to leave the UK

So it has been a long time since we have written.  We had a couple look at the van in early May and after a test drive and good look around, offered us the asking price.  Sadly it was too good to be true and 2 days later they opted out of the sale, which left us annoyed that they had gone back on their word.

We have been doing work around the campsite in exchange for a pitch and we are enjoying living on the site again.  We had a trip into Hexham on the bus and looked at the shops and market and went into the Abbey again.  The Abbey is 12-13th century, built over earlier churches which have been on the site from the 7th century.  The Abbey has been added to up until the 20th century.

We also went for a day walk from Birdoswald Fort along Hadrians wall back to the campsite.  Again we caught the bus and walked for about 5 1/2 hours seeing many turrets, milecastles, Willowford bridge and the ruins of Thirlwall castle.

After a response to our Ebay advertisement we were able to sell the campervan yesterday, which made us happy and relieved, but also sad as we have had such a great time with it.  The couple who bought it are about our age and hopefully will enjoy it as much as we did.

So after ringing New Zealand and letting the family know, it is time to book flights!
